Neuro-Endovascular Services
|
A team of four endovascular specialists from Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Radiology provide advanced endovascular treatment for intra- and extra-cranial atherosclerotic lesions, acute ischemic stroke, arteriovenous malformations, and intracranial aneurysms at the two hospitals. The acute on-call and elective procedures comprising of newest technology in intravascular imaging and devices are provided at all times. |

Neurointensive Care
|
A team of three neurointensivists provides neurocritical care for patients with cerebrovascular diseases and other neurological diseases at both hospitals. The neurocritical service provides primary intensive unit care for neurology and neurological surgery patients and consultation for patients admitted to intensive care unit under other services. The services are provided concurrently at both hospitals. |

Stroke In-Patient Services
|
A stroke in-patient service is located at the Hennepin County Medical Center and consists of a dedicated 4-bed stroke unit and 6-bed stroke floor. A second service is provided at University of Minnesota Medical Center with 4-bed stroke unit and 4-bed stroke floor. A total of 8 vascular neurologists provide specialized care to stroke patients with residents and fellows. |

Brain Attack Team
|
A vascular neurology specialist is available at University of Minnesota Medical Center and another at Hennepin County Medical Center 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, to rapidly evaluate patients with stroke who present to the emergency department and triage patients for acute treatment. These physicians also provide telephone consults to other hospitals to guide acute treatment and possible transfer to UMMC or HCMC. |

Stroke Clinic
|
A full day stroke clinic is provided at each of the hospitals to evaluate new patients for treatment and provide follow-up care to patients admitted and/or treated at respective hospitals. The outpatient clinics evaluate and treat patients with complex cerebrovascular diseases and log 800 visits a year. Three vascular neurologists staff each clinic. |

Telemedicine
|
The new Neuro Critical Care Center connects emergency department doctors at a number of suburban hospitals in the state with Hennepin County Medical Center and acts as a “hub” with on-call vascular neurologists who can assist in making remote diagnoses and treatment recommendations for suspected stroke patients. A team of 8 vascular neurologists provides coverage on a schedule. |

Vascular Neurosurgery
|
A neurosurgeon with specialty training in skull based surgery and vascular neurosurgery will provide variety of procedures including carotid endarterectomy, microsurgical aneurysm clipping, and microsurgical excision of arteriovenous malformations at University of Minnesota Medical Center and Hennepin County Medical Center. |
